Viking-themed Christmas floral display at Gardens by the Bay

This holiday season, Gardens by the Bay in Singapore is transformed into a winter wonderland with the enchanting floral display, “Poinsettia Wishes – A Nordic Christmas Adventure,” hosted at the Flower Dome. Running from now until January 1, 2024, the event promises visitors an immersive journey into the world of Viking seafarers and Nordic folklore.

The Flower Dome has been artfully adorned with over 20 varieties of poinsettias and more than 20 majestic Christmas trees, each standing up to 6 metres tall. The theme draws inspiration from the eighth to 11th centuries, showcasing symbols and representations of the Viking age, including the iconic longship and the set-up of a traditional feast.

To give the display a hint of magic, mythical creatures known as Nisses, which resemble a delightful blend of a garden gnome and Santa Claus, can be spotted throughout the Nordic-inspired landscape. These whimsical beings bring a sense of wonder and fantasy to the festive atmosphere.

One of the unique and heartwarming aspects of Poinsettia Wishes is the inclusion of wishes written by beneficiaries from the Children’s Cancer Foundation (C.C.F.). These touching messages will be sent to Santa’s post offices in Rovaniemi, Finland, and Drøbak, Norway, creating a bridge between the festive celebrations in Singapore and the enchanting winter landscapes of the Nordic regions.

Poinsettia Wishes offers meet-and-greet sessions with Santa Claus for those looking to immerse themselves fully in the holiday spirit. Visitors can capture the season’s magic with memorable interactions and share their Christmas wishes with the jolly older adult in the red suit.

To enhance the Nordic experience, Gardens by the Bay has collaborated with Nordic embassies to present enchanting music performances, further adding to the festive ambience.

Special rates are available for Singapore residents, providing an affordable opportunity for families and individuals to partake in this delightful Nordic Christmas Adventure.

Take the chance to create memories and indulge in the joy of this wondrous season at Poinsettia Wishes. Gardens by the Bay invites you to embark on a magical journey through time and folklore, celebrating the spirit of Christmas in a truly unique and enchanting way.
